Pigeon Bush station diagram

diagram of Pigeon Bush station, a wayside public station with platform, loop and loading bank

Portion of Railways Department line drawing, 41st Mile, traced from P.W.D. 10076 dated 02/1893. A simple station building and platform were provided, loop and loading platform. Mileage was 40 miles, 27 chains 49 links (64.55 kilometres) from Wellington, 10 chains shorter than original alignment mileage owing to modifications to the alignment in the Pakuratahi Valley and in the vicinity of Siberia Curve.

Lucena's Creek was crossed immediately to the south of the station, 4 spans of 20 foot, and 2 spans of 13 foot on piles. The Western Lake road was diverted to provide room for the station.

Alterations were made to the siding arrangements at the station, presumably to provide a crossing loop as well as a goods siding at the southern-most public station in the Wairarapa.
